The practice focuses on health law, counselling, advanced planning and training services.
Health law: this aspect of the practice includes consultations and legal representation of those who have been diagnosed with or are perceived as having a mental health issue. Matters like contested capacity findings, involuntary hospital admissions, “CTOs” and contested decision-making are addressed. Consultations may also be offered to supportive loved ones absent a conflict.
Mental health counselling and case management services are offered to address issues like the complexities of mental health law, new diagnoses, family dynamics and securing limited resources.
Advanced planning: this aspect of the practice includes the preparation of powers of attorney, guardianship applications and basic wills along with estate services. When a loved one dies, Erin is able to help navigate all the requirements during this challenging time.
Training services: Interactive presentation are offered in various areas of practice.
Since Erin opened the practice, she has worked with a wide range of clients and organizations from various backgrounds. In addition to representing those seeking to understand and exercise their rights under the Mental Health Act and Health Care Consent Act, she has also regularly provided consultation services to family members with the goal of more effectively navigating our challenging mental health legal and social service ‘system’. On the Advanced Planning side of the practice, Erin has prepared different forms of wills and undertaken advanced planning with individuals and families including those planning for their adult children with disabilities. Erin has seamlessly settled estates where the deceased left a will and where no will was apparent. Erin has enjoyed providing training sessions to community organizations on topics including trauma informed approaches. Please click on Services or Learn More for details about any of these practice areas.
Erin welcomes clients of all ages from all backgrounds. Erin speaks French.
